| Director: Donna Furmanek Donna became interested in yoga through a television series called, "To Life" in the early 1980's. "At that time, yoga complemented my dance practice." Since then, Donna's practice and teaching have evolved. Her training includes certification through the Temple of Kriya in Chicago, Yoga Kids certification, and continued studies in the Iyengar tradition of yoga through workshops and regular class study. She and her husband Mike recently attended the 2007 Iyengar National Yoga Convention to study with world renowned teacher, Geeta Iyengar. Donna is also studying courses in Laban Movement Analysis to enrich her knowledge regarding the healing modalities of movement. In addition, she holds an MA in Early Childhood Education and is a National Board Certified Teacher. Donna has experienced the therapeutic effects of yoga and wishes to share the joy of health and healing with others. Donna's classes are nurturing, mindful, learning filled and fun. Donna teaches at the Academy of Creative Movement, as well as Palos Park Recreation. Donna's husband, Mike is also an instructor. Mike's "9-5" job includes being a Project Manager and he has explored acting with the community theatre. In addition, Mike is now a fully certified yoga instructor through the Temple of Kriya Yoga. He is also an advisor for the Temple of Kriya Yoga Teacher Training Program. His teaching style reflects his creativity and a down to earth style. Mike has found yoga to be a life changing experience, and he brings the mind of yoga into all that he does. He lives his yoga "off the mat." Mike continues to study yoga through classes and workshops, in addition to teaching yoga classes. Donna and Mike are both registered with the Yoga Alliance, who support yoga teachers that have met specific training standards. |
